That Works Agency

Background

That Works is a Shopify Plus development and design agency. They work with a number of brands around the UK and abroad specialising in designing and developing high converting Shopify stores.

Requirements

Resource Worldwide first contacted That Works when it was a very small business. The owner, Jordan Hill, was actually working by himself as a web developer. But when he spoke to Resource Worldwide, he realised that he could easily get in extra support to help him out.

Jordan’s main issue was that he simply didn’t have enough time to do everything he needed to do. As a one man band, he was working all day on client work, but he also had to worry about client acquisition and sales on top of that. Then there was the general running of the business, such as the accounts, and Jordan was struggling to keep up.

The Solution

Jordan decided to hire someone to support him. Resource Worldwide look for candidates with the right training and experience, and their worldwide approach to recruitment also means that the new team member can be very cost effective.

From deciding to bring in this one new team member, called John, Jordan’s business has thrived. John quickly became a key member of the team, and two years on he is still working for That Works.

Challenges

As the business grew, Jordan knew that he needed to take on more people. But rather than just general support, the support that Jordan needed became more and more specialist. He tried searching for the right talent using traditional recruitment methods, but Jordan wasn’t able to find the right skillset that he needed.

More recently, the company has started going into CRO. Jordan had a specific outline of a person in mind. Requiring such a specific set of skills, he knew it would be no easy task to be able to fill the role. It was also a new service as part of the business, and it was more multidisciplinary role. Jordan spoke with Resource Worldwide. After an initial consultation where they explored the company’s needs, Resource Worldwide was able to go out find somebody who fitted the bill using their alternative approach to recruitment.

The Future

That Works have now built up a team of skilled individuals that are helping to scale the business quickly and effectively, and Jordan is confident that whatever new services he hopes to introduce in the future, Resource Worldwide will be able to help him find the right talented team members.

Jordan said: “I had this idea that I'd be able to leave my work, start work as a freelancer and earn a really good hourly wage. But when you’re running a business, there is so much to do. The actual billable work you can do ends up being a much smaller part of your day. I quickly realised that I needed to start outsourcing in order to actually make it the business I dreamed of.
