Background

iGAS Technology Solutions, founded in 2001, is a world leader in the design, engineering and delivery of turnkey projects to the Industrial Gases sector.

A few years ago, Rob Lee, Managing Director, noticed how difficult it was becoming to grow the company properly at a conservative speed, while keeping costs under control. They found it really hard to get the right skill sets and the right people.

About five years ago, they hired a man from India, who became a very good employee, and they developed their own remote engineering department. Already having a structure for working with remote professionals, Rob’s interest was piqued when he came across Resource Worldwide.

Requirements

Resource Worldwide offers an alternative approach to recruitment, and in Rob’s own words the business isn’t “recruitment consultants in the conventional sense.”

He commented, “They offered pretty much everything that we wanted, with great access to people in the Philippines who had very good skill sets.” It became an easy choice to have a meeting with Sophie to explore how Resource Worldwide could help iGAS.

The Solution

iGAS have two remote professionals currently working with them. One is a mechanical engineer, and the other an instrument electrical engineer.

Rob said, “We found their commitment and work ethic to be fantastic. They work on a remote basis, and they also come to site from time to time. They fit very well within our teams. Essentially, they act and we treat them like a full employee. This is definitely a great way to flexibly grow our company.”

Challenges

Because of the challenges iGAS had with finding the right skilled people long before they met Resource Worldwide, Rob is well placed to understand how to get the best out of working with remote professionals.

He said, “If you need to fill a skill gap that you've got, think a little bit outside the box. We all do hybrid working from time to time. It honestly doesn’t matter whether the team member is an hour away from the office or 12 hours away from the office. If they can do the work remotely, they can do it anywhere.”

The Future

iGAS will be continuing to work with their remote professionals and Rob is completely on board with how effective this solution is.
