Valiant Design

Background

Valiant is a branding and creative marketing agency that offers a range of services to clients. Claire Feather, the Commercial Director, is responsible for the company’s account management team and client service levels, and she’s also part of the leadership team.

There were three main reasons why they contacted Resource Worldwide that they hadn’t been able to resolve elsewhere.

Requirements

One of the three reasons why Claire contacted Resource Worldwide was around offering new services for clients and how they could start that process without a huge investment.

The second reason was that they were struggling to find the right people in the UK market from a recruitment perspective. And the third reason was to enable growth in a steady and more managed and viable manner.

The Solution

This was a new process for Valiant, and they weren't really sure what to expect from it nor how it would work.

Claire commented, “In some ways it was like a leap of faith. But it was actually really, really smooth, really transparent, really open and I was actually surprised. I think we were all quite surprised at how well it did work and the level of candidates that we were able to see.”

Challenges

The biggest challenge that Valiant expected to face was that of the culture.

Claire shared, “This way of working does take a bit of getting used to if it's a new space for you to be in.

“We're quite control freaks here at Valiant. We like to make sure that people who join the team with us are absolutely part of our culture and our ethos. So for us, this was quite a step change in the process. But it worked really well.”

The Future

Claire concluded, “I definitely recommend the process of working with remote professionals, but you need to jump in and embrace it. Your resource needs to feel really part of the business and part of an extension of the team. That's how we found we get the best out of our team members.

“They need a happy working life as well as everybody else at our team at Valiant. And so it's really how you embrace that and make them feel part of that team that leads to really positive results.”
